About the event
Whether you're a seasoned oenophile or a complete novice, this seminar is designed to enrich your understanding and appreciation of the complex and captivating world of wine.
Do the words zbibbo, teroldego or negroamaro mean anything to you? If not, you are one of the many people mystified by Italian wine. Some of the most beautiful wines in the world come from this country. Yet often people will simply choose a Cabernet or a Chardonnay because these grape varieties are familiar. Many people even cook Italian food but pass by the most obvious and best wine pairings because Italian wine labels are impossible to understand.
Let our Sommelier Frances unravel the mysteries of Italian wine. She has been a Sommelier for over twenty years, sixteen of those spent at Zambri’s restaurant where she was known for her ability to communicate Italian wine history, regions, and styles in an entertaining and informative way.
There are over 1000 grape varieties in Italy and styles vary greatly from North to South. In this workshop Frances will guide you through nine unique Italian wine regions, with a representative wine from each region. Each wine will represent a different style and you will learn to distinguish between them by developing your own palate and tasting techniques.
At the end of the event you will find yourself more confident both in purchasing and talking about the wines of Italy. In addition you will have developed your sensory skills making it easier to communicate about wine in general. As always, we will conclude with a social mingle accompanied by a beautiful grazing board. After all, Italian wines are made to pair with food.
